Cathedral of Pain Trial

I should very much like to do the Cathedral of Pain trial for the content. All reports are that it's a very interesting trial, and the only one thus far that allows an entire SG to be involved at once. You get to fight Rularuu and his minions, you get to learn more about the invasion and the Shadow Shard.

However. The Cathedral of Pain trial, when it goes live, will only be doable for a few days out of the month. I believe it's 3 days out of every 60 days, but I'm not certain.

This is the trial that gets the SG an Item of Power. An Item of Power enables our base to be raided. Period. If we get and keep an Item of Power, the base *must* be raid-capable, with all of the headaches that entails. The sentiment most people have expressed is that they don't want the base to be raid-capable, and don't generally enjoy PVP terribly much. As it turns out, that's pretty much how I feel. But I still want to do the trial, just for the content. Hence, the poll to get a handle on what the SG wants to do.

I can arrange a friendly base raid very easily. I've already touched base with the Paragonian Knights, and they've said they'll be happy to take an Item of Power off our hands without messing up the base.

It shouldn't be that difficult for us to schedule an RP session instead of a raid. The only problem I'd find there is locating an RP group that we like playing with that is raid-capable and doesn't want our IOP.

If you have other ideas and thoughts, please comment. I promise I won't do anything until I've gotten the SG's feedback on this.

I would have no problem in arranging for a friendly SG to take the IoP off our hands as long as there was some IC justification. All and all that shouldn’t be too difficult given the nature of the TU, I could very easily see us getting outsourced.

The Cathedral of Pain is scheduled to arrive on the test server (Training Room) at approximately 9/26/06 10 AM CST.

Some things to note about the CoP in general:

There will be no base raiding...not just yet, anyway. You can't steal Items of Powers from another supergroup, but you *can* still earn an Item of Power through the trial.

The CoP cycle: The trial itself is active for 7 days. After that, 21 days must pass, and then the trial is open once again. You can only complete the trial and earn your Item of Power during that 7 day period. The 21 days are meant for raiding, but as previously stated, you can't raid just yet.

Again, this is just for testing purposes. We're starting this on test on a Tuesday, but please note that the starting day may different on the live servers.

So, are we still on for trying this?
