Late yesterday evening, between seven and eight unidentified villains attacked Peregrine Island. Despite the best efforts of the PPD Awakened Division, they succeeded in robbing the First Bank of Paragon City. The villains fled from hero reinforcements sent by the Gods of the Golden Age, the Pillars of Virtue, and the Technocratic Union.
In the course of their wrecking spree, Portal Corps building 112 was bombed. The resulting explosions injured six Portal Corps technicians. Three were treated and released. One remains in critical condition at Phoenix Medical Center. Eleven portal machines were destroyed. One hero, Agent Storm, is reported as missing, presumed dead in the explosion.
Both Portal Corps and the FBSA have issued statements.
From Portal Corps: We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Agent Storm, and our apologies to the families of the injured technicians. We would like to assure the heroes of the city that the Portals are as safe as ever, and this incident in no way compromises our dedication to exploration and cataloguing new dimensions. Additional safeguards are being implemented to ensure that this incident will not be repeated.
From the FBSA: This agency urges continuing caution in the usage of Portal Corps equipment. Reports from on-scene investigators indicate that Agent Storm was caught in an unstable portal transit when the portal machines were damaged. The FBSA urges all heroes to avoid unstable portals whenever possible. As of this time, Agent Storm has been moved to inactive status of Missing, Presumed Dead. The only evidence that she may have survived the explosion is the verbal report of her distraught husband.
Chandra Parker-Storm was the co-Director of the Technocratic Union. She is survived by her husband, John Parker-Storm, registered as Agent Parker. The Technocratic Union has reported promotion of members Galvanic Man and Power-sink to Director. Agent Parker was unavailable for comment.
