You heard me correctly, ladies and gentlemen. On Saturday, August 5th, beginning at 7 PM Eastern Time, the Technocratic Union will be hosting a science fair in Pocket D. Bring your latest technical project, bring your psychotic robots, bring your mad science...or even your sane science!
We'll have guest speakers, debates on scientific theories, displays of new and unique gadgets, and a Mad Scientist costume/concept contest, all before our main event - The SCIENCE! competition.
We'll start with a short open-floor discussion on the latest innovations and theories - bring examples! Did you find some bit of alien tech and you don't know what it is? Our experts will help you identify it and suggest uses for it.
Next, we'll see Mad Scientists from Paragon City and the Rogue Isles alike give brief statements on their fields of research. There will be prizes for the three Maddest Scientists!
((This is a costume/concept contest. Contestants will be judged based on their costume, their background, and a 30 second presentation.))
Finally, after a short break for more scientific discussion, we'll have our main event! Ten of the best scientific projects in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles will be presented to the floor, and judged by Agent Storm, Doctor Lazarus Crom, and others! The winner will recieve one million Influence/Infamy.
((Here's how this part works. You write up your science project, and email it to Agent Storm in-game. Entries must be recieved no later than 6 PM Eastern on Saturday the 5th. We'll narrow them down to ten finalists, and those ten will get to present their projects for final judging. Why are we narrowing them down ahead of time? Time constraints - Without having actual items to display, it's just not feasible to have 30 people spend 5-10 minutes each telling us what their project looks like. We'd be there all night. I'm certainly not going to attempt to stop non-finalists from displaying their projects during the course of the fair, though!))
We'll close with more discussion and rounds of congratulations to the winners of our contests! Participants who are not finalists are encouraged to display their projects during the course of the fair - Who knows, you might find a new sponsor or earn a grant!
((A bit of a note on prizes - Villains *will* recieve some form of prize in the form of salvage, enhancements, or infamy. Heroes will also recieve prizes in those forms. Sadly, my villains are all rather poor, and I can't promise that I can be as generous to the villains as I can be to the heroes unless some wealthy donors show up. But it wouldn't be a comic science fair if we didn't include the villainous scientists. *grins*))
Note for Union personnel - This is considered a formal dress event. Wear your suit if you have one, and Union colors if you do not.
